Living up to its reputation, The Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ) has taken another key initiative to offer Dubai freelance visa to strengthen Dubai’s position even further as a global business hub.
DAFZ launched the talent pass Dubai freelance visa license for freelancers (Self-employed) on 9th Jan 2022. It will attract people with special skills and expertise from all over the world. The primary purpose is to bring global talent from various realms such as media, technology, art, marketing, and more to accelerate economic growth.
The initiative also creates new opportunities for entrepreneurs and professionals exploring business setup Dubai options through flexible freelance and self-employment structures within Dubai free zones.
The Dubai Airport Freezone is part of The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority. It has signed an MoU with Dubai Culture and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA). The event took place at DAFZ to officially commence the new initiative.
“This MoU supports our strategic plans for supporting the national economy by enhancing the role of commercial, investment, and creative sectors in enhancing the emirate’s GDP, and enables us to contribute to reinforcing Dubai’s position as a creative hub and an incubator for talent. This license comes as a response to changing market requirements and the evolving business environment in Dubai, especially in the post-pandemic period,” said Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni.
It is brought up to facilitate Dubai’s strategy for creative economy launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
What’s in a three-year Dubai freelance visa?

Talent pass allows holders to have a residential Dubai freelance visa for three years. Additionally, it permits them to rent office space. Candidates can choose from a wide range of modern office solutions provided by DAFZ.
These offices are cost-effective, and the talent pass license holders can also opt-in for remote working. DAFZ is home to over 1800 companies functioning in more than 20 economic sectors with multinationals accounting for 30% including 31 Fortune 500 companies. Sounds like a mini global village. Doesn’t it?
The Talent Pass initiative further supports individuals and startups interested in free zone company formation UAE by offering access to modern infrastructure, flexible workspace solutions, and a business-friendly ecosystem.
From MNCs to SMEs to startups, they have “enormous once-in-a-lifetime” exposure to DAFZ customers. Freelance license holders would also have a free zone’s digital platform at their disposal. It gives them easy access to work, contracts, and services to expand their customer prospects.
“The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the ‘Talent-Pass’ comes in line with the directives of the GDRFA and its strategies for enhancing the business environment and encouraging creativity and innovation in the fields of media, education, technology, art, marketing, and consultancy. This supports Dubai’s plan to create an incubator ecosystem that provides opportunities for creative talent to develop themselves and expand their business,” said Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.
